13.8 Volt 600W Power Supply
13.8V 600W observatory power supply powers your entire imaging setup from one source. Pre-adjusted voltage, LEDs blacked out for night vision. 50A output.

One Power Supply. Everything You Need to Run.
The 13.8 Volt 600W Power Supply delivers clean, reliable DC power to your entire observatory setup-mount, cameras, dew heaters, focuser, and DragonLAIR controller-from a single source. No more tangled wall warts. No more wondering if you have enough amperage. Just plug in and image.
Why This Power Supply?
We've pre-configured this unit specifically for observatory use. The voltage is adjusted from the factory 12V to 13.8V, which matches the float voltage of lead-acid batteries and ensures compatibility with battery backup systems. And because the last thing you need at 2 AM is a bright LED destroying your night vision, we've blacked out all the indicator lights.
These aren't complicated modifications, but they're the kind of details that matter when you're running a remote imaging session. We've done the work so you don't have to.
For customers who want the simplest possible power setup, this is what we recommend. If you want power outage protection with automatic roof closure, pair a DragonLAIR with our battery backup system instead-but if you just need reliable power and don't want to fuss with batteries, this supply handles the job.
Key Benefits
Enough Power for Your Entire Setup
With 50 amps and 600 watts available, this supply handles demanding configurations without breaking a sweat. Run your mount, cooled camera, dew heaters, focuser, and controller simultaneously-all from one source. No more daisy-chaining underpowered adapters or worrying about voltage drop under load.
Night Vision Preserved
Observatory equipment shouldn't light up your imaging site. We black out all LEDs on this unit before shipping, so there's nothing to tape over or work around. Your dark adaptation stays intact.
13.8V Output for System Compatibility
The pre-adjusted 13.8V output matches the float voltage of lead-acid batteries. This means the supply works seamlessly alongside battery backup systems-if you ever decide to add one later, the voltage is already right. It also provides a bit of headroom over standard 12V supplies, helping compensate for any voltage drop in longer cable runs.
Built for Continuous Operation
The aluminum housing, built-in cooling fan, and dust-proof design are rated for over 100,000 hours of service life. This isn't a supply you'll replace every season. The operating temperature range of 14°F to 140°F covers most observatory environments, and the comprehensive protection circuits (short circuit, overload, over-voltage, over-heat, leakage) keep your equipment safe.
Universal Compatibility
Works with any 12V nominal equipment-mounts, cameras, dew heaters, focusers, guide cameras, USB hubs, and more. If it runs on 12V, this supply can power it.

Integration/Compatibility
This supply works with any 12V nominal astronomy equipment. The included DragonLAIR cable connects directly to your controller via Anderson PowerPole-no additional adapters needed. For the rest of your equipment, connect through a power distribution block (like a RigRunner or PowerPole distribution board) and you've got a clean, organized power system.
The 13.8V output is intentional: it provides compatibility with battery backup systems and compensates for voltage drop across longer cable runs. Your equipment sees stable voltage even under load.
Installation/Setup Reality Check
Setup takes 15 minutes at most. Connect the AC cable, wire the output to your power distribution, and you're done.
Tools needed: Phillips screwdriver
Skill level: If you can plug in a power strip and connect Anderson PowerPoles, you can set this up.
Important: Check polarity before connecting. The output terminals are clearly marked, but take a moment to verify-it's the kind of thing that's easy to overlook and important to get right.
What You Need to Provide
- AC outlet in your observatory
- Additional cables for your equipment (mount, cameras, dew heaters, focuser)
- Power distribution block (optional-RigRunner, PowerPole distribution board, or similar if powering multiple devices)
Real-World Performance
We've been using and selling this power supply for two years. The failure rate has been low, and the units that are running continue to perform reliably. It's not the most exciting piece of equipment in your observatory, but that's the point-it just works.
That said, we do recommend our battery backup system over a standalone power supply if you want protection against power outages. A power supply keeps your equipment running; a battery backup keeps your equipment protected when the power goes out. For customers who want to keep things simple and don't need outage protection, this is the supply we trust.
Power Your Observatory the Right Way
Stop cobbling together wall warts and hoping you have enough amperage. The 13.8 Volt 600W Power Supply gives you clean, reliable power for your entire setup-pre-configured for observatory use and ready to connect to your DragonLAIR out of the box.
